General planning information. Your procedure, anesthesia, recovery, and results depend on your health and treatment plan. Returning to work does not mean full healing.

About the procedure

Facelift surgery for men treats facial sagging while accounting for individual features, skin thickness, beard hair, and the hairline. Scar placement around the ears and sideburns requires particular attention when hair is short or thinning.

The plan may include treatment of the neck or a discussion of volume loss. The aim is a result that fits your preferences, but scars, hairline shifts, asymmetry, and a visible change in appearance are possible. Suitability depends on health and anatomy rather than age alone.

Good candidates

  • Jowls and a softened jawline
  • Loose skin or bands on the neck
  • A tired look that does not match your energy
  • Good health and realistic expectations

Candidacy is confirmed at your consultation. Dr. Huson will tell you honestly if a different approach would serve you better.

Before & after

What to expect

  1. Your consultation

The consultation reviews your goals, medical history, medications, nicotine use, and examination findings. Discuss alternatives, the proposed setting and anesthesia, realistic changes, costs, and the support you will need during recovery.

  2. The procedure

Incisions and deeper tissue work are planned around your anatomy, beard pattern, and hairline. The proposed lift and any neck procedure should be explained without promising an undetectable result.

  3. Recovery

Bruising, swelling, and temporary changes in sensation can affect work and shaving. Incisions near beard hair may need particular care. Resume exercise only after clearance.

Risks and limitations

  • Scars, beard or hairline changes, skin loss, and bleeding collections can affect appearance.
  • Facial nerve injury, numbness, asymmetry, and the need for revision are possible.

This is not a complete list. Your clinician should explain the risks of the specific procedure and anesthesia, including bleeding, infection, healing problems, and any medical factors that change your risk.

Other options

A neck lift, submental liposuction, eyelid surgery, or skin treatment may address a more limited concern. Surgery is optional and should fit the amount of change you want.

Planning your consultation

Bring your medication list and relevant medical history. Ask about the facility, anesthesia team, follow-up, time away from work, and help at home. Request an itemized estimate covering the procedure, anesthesia, facility, and any additional care; confirm coverage directly if insurance may apply.

Common questions

Bring the rest to your consultation. There is no such thing as too many.

How is planning different for men?

Beard growth, hairline, skin characteristics, and desired contour influence the plan. There is no single technique appropriate for every man.

Will other people notice?

They may. Swelling, scars, and a changed appearance can be visible; a natural result is an aim, not a promise.

Is there an age cutoff?

Health, anatomy, medications, and recovery capacity matter more than a universal age threshold.
